Fishing update

Had some trips the last few mornings and we have been catching trout. They have been on the smaller side but the keepers are still mixed in. Had some young kids with me today and we caught a variety of bottom fish as well as a few trout.  Saw a drum tailing in the shallows and get him to eat. . . Unfortunately he shook the hook half way to the boat.  We’ll get em next time little fella!  Thank you everyone who has fished with me this summer I greatly appreciate the business!

PS : My smartphone got wet and I am using a temporary ancient backup phone until my new one comes in. . .  Pictures will resume shortly!

Rain delay

Kent, Kent Jr, Peter and I got a late start this morning after the rain clouds pushed through. Upon arriving at the first spot, I cast one out to show the fellas how to retrieve the lure. I think the bait was in the water for .002 seconds before it gets hit. A keeper goes into the box and man I thought it was game on. Ended up being a false alarm. . . We still managed to catch about 12 trout and missed quiet a few more. 6 went into the box and we snuck back to the ramp just in time before the bottom fell out. Thanks for fishing with me guys!

Good Company

Had a great group of guys with me today.  We were greeted with calm conditions, a killer sunrise, and an average trout bite.  Would have loved to put these guys on a red hot bite, but they fished hard for 10 fish today.  Something had the trout lock jaw, but we did manage 5 keepers with a couple of them coming on topwater which is always fun.   We talked fishin’ and just simply enjoyed the solitude that can be found in our wonderful backwaters of the outer banks.  Come get away from the hustle and bustle of summer on the OBX and spend a day on the water with Salt Minded Fishing Charters!

Mixed blessing

I had 3 adults and 3 young fellas with me this morning.  The goal was to get some pullage for the young guys and try to round up enough fish for dinner.  Well, after about the third cast of the trip we hook into a 20″ trout and the 6 year old Tommy gets to real it in.  Needless to say, that set the bar pretty high for the rest of the trip.  We managed about 6 nice trout all over 18″ for about an hour in that same area and each kid got to wind a couple in.  The trout bite quickly died off and we went 30 minutes without a bite. Apparently that is just shy of eternity for 8 year olds.  We switched gears and got the bottom rigs out.  After pulling on some croakers, pinfish, and sea mullet for a while we head back to the trout hole to see if we can get a couple more.  They didn’t cooperate as we got a few bites but no more hook ups.  Still a fun trip with the youngins’ and I know they will enjoy their trout dinner! Thanks for fishing with me, come back next year and do it again!

Nice red

Went fun fishing with my uncle this afternoon.  It was slow but we managed to hook 2 nice trout that shook off at the boat.  This 22″ red made it in to the box though!
