Looks promising

Puppy drum fishing is setting up to be ridiculous in the sound this year. They seem to be pretty thick everywhere! Looking forward to putting some charters on some drag screaming puppy drum on light tackle. These fish are loads of fun and they will explode on a topwater plug as well. Spent some more time on the water in my Hobie kayak with my brother recently. We found a big school of pups backed up in a shallow creek. Sight casted them for a while then took out the fly rods and wore them out. Call me – its time to book a trip!

Black, white, and stinky Friday

Well, this is a report that no charter captain wants to give, but I will.  We got the ol’ skunk-a-roo on my charter this morning.  We headed to Currituck bridge in the freezing cold and set up on the troll for stripers.  Not even 5 minutes later…. FISH ON!  Not even 10 seconds later …. FISH OFF!  That was the bulk of the action today.  We trolled, casted, jigged, prayed to the fishing gods, whatever we could and just had no luck. We had a couple other short strikes.  Talked to a couple other boats that held up zeros too.   Sorry guys!  Great effort thats for sure.

Striper Charters

As the air and water temps drop, Salt Minded Charters is going to start changing gears. There are still plenty of trout and drum around, but they are on their way out.  I will be offering rock fish charters and it seems like we are starting to see some better numbers early this season.   Here are a couple pics of some stripers myself and friend / fellow charter Capt. Marc Kerns of Rock On Charters found on a recent trip to one of the local bridges.  Mid to Late November should be an excellent time to target these fish.  Give me a shout and lets go fishin!

Between the rain

Had Jim and his wife Lee Ann on board today for an afternoon charter.  Fortunately,  we timed it just right and never felt a drop of rain.  During that time we caught trout and drum.  I think I need to sharpen my hooks up because we had a lot of missed opportunities. Still managed a great catch and I think they will enjoy their trout and drum for dinner. Thanks for fishing with me!

Great company for a great company

Had the pleasure of taking out a couple guys from Carolina Designs Realty on a morning charter. We caught a lot of fish and the guys took home some dinner. Thanks for checking!

Also caught a nice trout the other day.  She was a little shy of the citation I have been trying to get for years.
