Sheeps and Mahi

This morning was howling pretty good out of the NE so we were forced to stay inide.  We had a good bite of small trout and stripers to start off the morning.  We switched over to sheepshead and picked up a few.  We also caught a couple Togs.  We may or may not have kept them . We couldn’t find the regulations on em’ HA!!!

This afternoon layed down queit a bit so we were able to poke our noses out and look for a cobia.  We ended up seeing 4 on the change but didn’t get any bites.  Did manage get a nice gaffer to the box.   On the way in a saw a nice pair and hooked one about 50 pounds but she came un buttoned.  Cobia just wasnt in the cards for us today.   Still a great day on the water.

2 half

Had a couple half day trips in the sound. We caught trout, stripers, flounder, sea mullet, and a couple black drum. It was a nice change of pace from the full days in the ocean looking for cobia. Photographing the bridge project tomorrow then I’ll be back at it on Friday looking for Mr brown.

Colin

TD Colin passed us by this morning.   It was basically a heavy rain with a tiny bit of wind.  It moved out of here by mid day so my brother and I went out looking for cobia.  We saw 3 and caught 1. It even had a tag – looking forward to seeing the tracking data on this recapture.  Nice fish!

Slow kine

Brutally slow cobia fishing today. Saw a nice fish this morning – should of had her. . . . Looked around all day and saw a small one right before we headed in. Back at it tomorrow.

Double down

Had Micheal, Josh, and 5 year old Charley this morning.  We couldn’t buy a trout bite early so we headed down to the inlet and drifted some flounders.  Caught about 8 throwbacks.  Bottom fished for a while and had a pretty good sea mullet bite going along with a couple blues.  Went outside looking for cobia. Pulled the spanish rig around and picked up 1 .  Fun morning with this crew!

Had Tracy and Co. this afternoon in search of cobia.  Hadn’t been much seen in the fleet today but we gave it a go.  Hopped up in the tower and was immediatly staring at a 50 pounder.  Hooked her and got her in the boat.   Climbed back up and saw a pack of 3 and we hooked 1 of those and got him to the box about a 30 pounder.  Rain was coming so we looked around for a little while longer and didn’t see any so we headed on in. Success
