Outside the box, Inside the tide line
We ran out of the inlet today in search of something that could rip some drag. Recent reports of decent cobia numbers, and big schools of red drum were enough to entice us into a trip on the ocean. We ran out of the inlet and headed off pea island to start looking around for cobia. As soon as we got to the “spot” I ran over a 30 pounder. We drove around for another hour or two without a siting. Then we come up on a ray that had a nice fat cobia in tow, but after numerous casts right on the money it headed down to the depths. We start heading back towards the inlet and we see two more cobia, a 40 pounder and a 5 pounder, Neither one took the bait. After getting burnt out on looking for cobia we ran back inside to drift for flounder. The grass was terrible but we did manage to connect on a flattie. Here is me trying to hold a 6 inch founder as close to the camera as possible. . . All and all a great day on the water with beautiful weather and calm seas.
