Between the rain

Had Jim and his wife Lee Ann on board today for an afternoon charter.  Fortunately,  we timed it just right and never felt a drop of rain.  During that time we caught trout and drum.  I think I need to sharpen my hooks up because we had a lot of missed opportunities. Still managed a great catch and I think they will enjoy their trout and drum for dinner. Thanks for fishing with me!

Great company for a great company

Had the pleasure of taking out a couple guys from Carolina Designs Realty on a morning charter. We caught a lot of fish and the guys took home some dinner. Thanks for checking!

Also caught a nice trout the other day.  She was a little shy of the citation I have been trying to get for years.

Surfed out

Took my hobie kayak out yesterday evening.  I had surfed for 8 hours a day for 2 days straight so I was actually “surfed out.”   I didn’t even want to surf the rest of the day even though the waves were still cranking.  So I grabbed my kayak, rod, and a pack of gulps and headed to kitty hawk bay.  The bite was just as good as the waves with a bite just about every other cast.  Caught trout and drum for a couple hours and saved a few for dinner. Gotta love the Outer Banks this time of year!  Two charters this week (wed & thurs) so stay tuned for reports and thanks for checking!

Drum Invasion

Drum everywhere!  Puppy drum are everywhere in the sound and the surf.  The big drum are just outside the second bar up and down the whole beach.   Our news feeds are flooded with photos of monster drum! What an awesome way to kick off to the fall season.  If you haven’t caught one of these things, now is the time.   Which was the case for my good buddy Graham.  He wanted to get his first drum and I gave him the call to come down and give it a shot.  He drove down Saturday morning from Raleigh.  He arrived mid day so we took out the boat and caught some specks to kick off the day. As night fell we headed north to go for the drum.    We missed a few runs, caught a few biters, pulled the hook a couple times,  just having a rough start.  Finally Graham locks in and lands a big ol fatty, his first big drum.   Mission Accomplished!

www.OBXSurfInfo.com Crew

Had Brent, Tara, and Jesee out this morning for a half day full of fishing.  We started early with very little light leaving the ramp. . . just the way I like it.   We arrived at the first destination and I couldn’t believe the amount of boats that were there.  Haven’t seen any there all summer and the fishing was way better then. Oh well, I guess the word gets out at some point.  So we pick around there for a minute and catch a few fish.  Then we made a move to a spot away from the crowd.  Managed a nice pup on topwater along with a keeper striper on top too. Fun stuff.  Picked up a few keeper trout and lost our keeper flounder at the boat.  We will get that guy  next time.  Thanks for Fishing with me Brent and crew, I enjoyed the great company.
