Captains Meeting

My buddy and fellow charter captain Marc Kerns and I headed up to the Elizabeth River today for some trout fishing.   When we arrived at the ramp it was 27 degrees outside.  We had a layer of ice on the deck of the boat to contend with.  It was chilly , but we thawed out once the sun came up. We fished from about 0630 until 0100.  The bite was pretty darn slow…. We probably caught a total of 10-12 fish – but made two of them count.  I got a nice 25 incher, and Marc puts a 29 incher in to the boat!  His personal best trout, and a solid one at that (8.5 – 9lbs).  The great captain that he is – he let this big beauty go.  Nice work Marc

Celebrating Pops Birthday

My Brother and I met up with our Pops on Saturday afternoon.  This was the first time I have brought my boat to the Elizabeth River.   It was pretty chilly and very windy.  We started fishing around 11:30am and wrapped it up around 5.  We had a decent bite, but it certainly wasn’t red hot.   We picked up fish here and there, with a couple nice ones in the mix. Pops doesn’t trout fish much (yet) and he managed his personal best trout!   Very enjoyable afternoon and we finished off the evening with a nice dinner and a couple cold beers.  Happy Birthday Pops!

Perseverance

My brother and I have been chasing a trout over 10 pounds for quiet some time now.  We have both spent countless hours chasing the elusive fish.  Matt finally got one yesterday.  Please head over to his blog and read the full story!  www.a-teamfishing.com

Black, white, and stinky Friday

Well, this is a report that no charter captain wants to give, but I will.  We got the ol’ skunk-a-roo on my charter this morning.  We headed to Currituck bridge in the freezing cold and set up on the troll for stripers.  Not even 5 minutes later…. FISH ON!  Not even 10 seconds later …. FISH OFF!  That was the bulk of the action today.  We trolled, casted, jigged, prayed to the fishing gods, whatever we could and just had no luck. We had a couple other short strikes.  Talked to a couple other boats that held up zeros too.   Sorry guys!  Great effort thats for sure.

Photogenic

Matt and I brought along the real cameras for some photos in our new AFTCO gear.  The conditions were perfect for shooting. . . no wind, golden afternoon light, and some cooperative trout.  We caught some solid trout and managed a few good pics.
