Back in action

Well the storm passed with little to no damage up here in town.  Some of the towns down south (Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo) got hit pretty hard.  I got back on the water with Ken to see if the storm effected the fishing at all.  Nope!

Caught a handful of drum and some flounder and the water was already nice and clear.  Looking forward to my trips this week.  Still plenty of openings so give me a call and book your trip!

Awful Arthur is Coming – Pre-Storm Report

And the excellent drum fishing continues!   This fella pulled on a few of these angry drum yesterday.  After fish 3, he had me holding the rod up because his arms were beat.  Great stuff – that smile says it all.  We drifted for flounder for a bit and caught a handful of throwbacks.  Thanks for joining me!

On another note, it looks like Hurricane Arthur hates America.

Stay safe out there – hoping for the best, I know these fish will be hungry after this mess.

Signing off . . . see you guys after the storm!

Goodness gracious

Morning trip I had Brent and Company.  We had the kiddos on this one, so we busted out the bottom rigs and kept the action  hot and heavy.  We ended up pulling a couple keeper flounder during our drifts.  We went looking for drum for the last hour of the trip, and managed 1 bite that came unbuckled.

The second trip today, WOW!   We started out drifting for flounder, with one small one and some bycatch.  We headed over to start looking for drum – and landed 1 sight casting in pretty short order.  Then I got the call that changed everything.  The mother load of drum were piled up and chewing.  We went over there and caught them solid for 2 hours straight.  These boys will have some sore arms!

The lucky doormat

Fished with Timothy and crew yesterday. It was windy, very windy….. NE 20+

Started off the morning on the flats looking for drum.  Didn’t take long and we were bowed up on a double. One pulled.  Put some meat in the box and went looking for flounder. Wind made the fishing challenging so I put the boat on the trailer mid trip , and moved to the backside of the island.  We fished hard for a few bites but one really counted a big ol doormat flounder. Unfortunately he pulled right next to the boat and has another chance at life.  Hopefully we can fry his @$$ next year. Thanks Tim & crew!
