Today was a little more productive!

This morning we had a nice variety – we pretty  much caught fish the whole 4 hours.  Started off drifting flounder and we picked up a few of those with 1 nice keeper.   Picked up a sea mullet or 2 as well.    Went over to the pilings and got a few sheepshead to eat.  Picked up another sea mullet or 2.   Ended the day with some good speckled trout action.  Great trip.  IMG_8921

This afternoon we slow trolled some live bait off the beach and caught a bunch of sharks.  It was non stop shark action.   We did have a real nice cobia come in but we never got a bait in from of him.  He was gone just as fast as he showed up.   Real pretty out there.   We trolled our way back and got a few blues.  Thanks guys

Had some pretty high expectation this morning when I woke up.   Light offshore wind, and some great fishing yesterday afternoon.  Really seemed to be shaping up for a good day.   Well…. It didn’t really go as planned.  Spend most of the morning looking for cobia and mahi. Nadda.  Pulled around for a spanish or bluefish and I think we caught 2 blues. Came inside and tried to save the day on the pilings.  Picked up 2 sheeps.   Thanks guys for the great effort.  Poor job by me.

This afternoon things just continued to get worse.  We ran outside but the ocean got rough as shit and beat us to death while drenching everyone – including me in the tower.  Ran back inside and tried to catch some flounder.  That was pretty slow too – we picked up 3 throwbacks.   When they asked me if we could atleast catch some spanish I knew we were doomed.  Pulled the plug and called it a 4 hour trip instead of 6.

Managed to lose 2 of my nice cobia rod and reel outfits today too.   Just one of those days.  Livin’ the dream

Had a half day trip this morning with JB and Company.   We fished the sound and caught some stripers, sea mullet, and some other misc. bottom fish.  We also popped a nice sheepshead near the end of the trip.  Thanks guys

This afternoon I had a 3/4 day trip with Ed and Company.  The wind had layed down some and it was getting nice and calm.  We started after the sheepshead but came up empty.  I decided to see what the ocean looked like.   Still a little lumpy but we headed out and popped 2 nice mahi.  Came back inside and had some great flounder action.  We probably caught over 30 with 4 nice keepers and 1 that went 21″.  . .  Great afternoon – thanks guys!

Couldn’t think of a name for this multi day report. Yesterday I had a crew out looking for cobia.  No love from the man in brown so we settled for some spanish and blues in the ocean.   Tried to sheepshead fish the bridge but the 25mph SSW wind had other plans for us.  Ended in a narrow creek catching a couple specks.  Thanks guys – good effort.

Today I joined my brother and Dad on my brothers boat looking for cobia.  We like to do a fathers day tradition offshore fishing.  The wind was brutal for offshore today and it looks like a big Nor Easter for next weekend so we went looking for cobia.   We saw alot of fish but only managed to entice 1.  Landed  my first cobia of the year. Thanks Matt!

Sheeps and Mahi

This morning was howling pretty good out of the NE so we were forced to stay inide.  We had a good bite of small trout and stripers to start off the morning.  We switched over to sheepshead and picked up a few.  We also caught a couple Togs.  We may or may not have kept them . We couldn’t find the regulations on em’ HA!!!

This afternoon layed down queit a bit so we were able to poke our noses out and look for a cobia.  We ended up seeing 4 on the change but didn’t get any bites.  Did manage get a nice gaffer to the box.   On the way in a saw a nice pair and hooked one about 50 pounds but she came un buttoned.  Cobia just wasnt in the cards for us today.   Still a great day on the water.
